Page numbering

My document has a Cover page and a TOC. I wanted page one to start on the
page after the TOC. After much reading I figured it out. My problem now is
that I have a blank page before my page one and after my TOC that messes up
my page numbering everytime I try to delete it. The blank page showed up
when I inserted the section break. How do I get rid of the blank page
without messing up my numbering?

Sounds like you have forced an Odd or Even Header/Footer.

Check File > Page Setup > Layout > Headers and Footers > Different odd and
even. Make sure that is not checked off.

Do a "View" "Normal" and make sure you dont have a page break AND a section
break-next page. If you do, remove the page break

If you have enabled either "Mirror margins" or "Different odd and even"
headers and footers, Word assumes you will be duplexing the document, and it
will not allow an odd-numbered page (page 1, for example) to be a verso
(left-hand, even-numbered) page. If your TOC ends on an odd page, Word will
change your Next Page section break to an Odd Page break in order to force a
blank even-numbered page after the TOC.

But the suggestion to make sure you don't have a page break as well as a
section break is also a good one.

I do have a page and section breaks. How do I delete a page break?

I have gone over my final document and noticed that pages 1 - 15 show up
correctly -1-, -2- etc.
Page 16 shows up just as a 16, (no dashes before or after 16)
no page number on 17
and pages 18 - 37 show up without the dashes that are on pages 1 - 15

Where have I gone wrong?
