To begin with XP is not optimized for broadband or high
speed connections. There is an excellent free program that
will help with about two dozen settings. SpeedXP. I don't
recommend the "clear pagefile on shutdown" as all this
does is overwrite the existing pagefile with zeros before
deleteing it. Use this only if security is you main
concern. XP is hard to optimize as the tweaks to improve
speed require registry changes. IE is only set to download
2 pages by default at a time. You can set this to 10. That
helps tons. IE is also set to scan other remote computers
for scheduled tasks and you need to delete a key to stop
this behaviour. As you have tons of disk space you should
also set your cache to only refresh once every seven days.
If you would like the registry routes and the entries to
add or alter then e:mail me or search for them on the I-
net.Good luck.
