Page Down Doesn't Work After Using Find & Replace

Hi,
After I use Ctrl+Find in a Word, Office XP document, Page Down and Page Up stop working. That is, instead of changing a page at a time, the features find the next instance of what was was searched for in Find and Replace. I've tried deleting the search term to no avail. The only way I can clear the searched for item is to either replace it with another item or exit Word and then relaunch it.

Is this a bug? If so, is there a patch for it?

Towards the bottom of the vertical scroll bar, click on the circle between
the double up and down arrows and select the object to be browsed to.

or

See the article “How to prevent the built-in BrowseNext and RepeatFind

commands from creating bad karma “ at:

Thanks Doug but, excuse me, I should have said Ctrl+Pge Down and Ctrl+Pge Up. Ctrl + Home and Ctrl + End are unaffected but Ctrl+Page Up and Ctrl+Page Down are. I've tried Cancel and Esc but neither of these keys turn it off.

Will the fix you suggested still work?

Have you tried it?

I didn't need to. Soon posting my correction, MS Customer Support responded to an earlier inquiry I had made. I'm pasting the solution she provided for others that might have missed this bit of information about how to turn off the find and replace feature. I know there are others out there who think they are dealing with a bug in the software when, like me, they just aren't clear about how to use it (SHAME--smile). Here is what the MSCS Rep explained to me:

Hello Olivia,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service.

I am sorry to hear that the suggestions provided in the previous e-mail did not help you solve your issue.

Olivia, as a Customer Service Representative, I have searched and found that
after using find and replace, clicking on Select Browse Object button will take you back to browse by page. This will help you use page up and page down.

Select Browse Object button can be found between the Browse Up and Down arrows in the bottom right hand corner of Word, which is a round button. Click on the Button and then select Browse by Page. This will set it back so when you use Ctrl Up and Down it will browse by page instead of the find word.

I hope the above information helps you. If you are unclear about the steps given above or if the issue persists, please write back to us and we will be glad to assist you.

Thank you for using Microsoft products and services,

Mythili
Microsoft Online Customer Service

Sincerely,
Olivia

That suggestion was contained in my response to your initial question.

Since that is exactly what Doug told you to do, I'm surprised that you found
it necessary to contact MS about this. <g>
