Page breaks in word 2007 not visible???

I started a new .docx document and i wanted to do a page break, and page
break works, but in draft view it isn't visible??? When i start a document
..doc it is normally visible, what is the problem? I have office 2007 SP1.

Press Ctrl+Shift+8 to show nonprinting marks; you should then be able to see
the page breaks.

Ok, here is the full thing.
I started a docx file, typed some, did a page break, it showed it as it
should, typed some more, wanted another page break, and did it the same way,
but it didn't show. When i choose to show nonprinting marks, it shows page
breaks but smaller than those upper that show even without this non printing
marks. I personally think this is a bug, and I would like word 2003 page
breaks showing.

Here are pictures of what i'm talking about

See if this helps: Click the Office button, and then click Word Options. In
the Advanced category, scroll down to the "Compatibility options for"
section. Expand the Layout options (by clicking the plus sign). Check the
"Split apart page break and paragraph mark" option, and click OK.

Yes, it solved my problem, i think in next eventual patch it should be default.

Salutes.

Well, the new behavior with page and paragraph breaks is certainly not a
bug, if that's what you are asking (if it was there wouldn't be a
compatibility option for it), so it's not likely to change any time soon.

However, the display issue should be possible to fix, I suppose. But it may
have low priority.

Thank you for this tip. This option also takes care of another
problem I have had with pasting large amounts of text. When pasting
text in previous versions of Word, the Word window automatically
scrolled down to the end of the text. In 2007, this was not happening
and I had to press the down arrow key or Enter to get to the end.

I have searched the knowledge base for an article that describes each
compatibility layout option and cannot find one. Does such an article
exist for 2007?

No, I haven't seen such a knowledge base article, unfortunately. Actually, I
can't reproduce the issue either. When exactly does it occur? For example,
does it make a difference if you paste at the end of the document, or at the
beginning?

I spoke too soon. Upon opening Word this morning, pasting a large
amount of text is back to what it was before. In Print Layout view,
it doesn't matter where I paste text in the document. It can be at
the beginning or middle and the window does not scroll down to the end
of the text. In Draft view, the window does scroll down to the end.
I had been wondering if it's my video driver, but it works as expected
in Draft view, so I'm not convinced that's the problem.

I had switched from working in Normal view to Print Layout view with
Word 2007 because I didn't like the way page breaks appeared in Draft
view -- my eye wanted to see that line all the way across the screen.
Checking the "Split apart page break and paragraph mark" option gave
me back the view I had in previous versions so I'll stick with Draft
view now.

You have obviously played with all the compatibility options to see
how they will affect your document, but I was hoping there was an
article to explain each option as there is for earlier versions.

At least on my system, the compatibility option didn't cause a problem. You
mentioned the display driver; it might be worth checking with a different
one. On the other hand, since it is now working for you, you may just as
well leave things the way they are (for a while).

I too find it annoying that no article explaining the new compatibility
options for Word 2007 has been published yet.
