page breaks and styles

If I have a document where the first line of page 2 is a style (ie. Heading
1), it appears the style is always on the page break before the top of page
2. For example, if I shade heading 1, then the last line on page 1, has the
shading, as well as the first line on page 2 - where it should be.
If I delete the line on page 1 with the shading, it deletes the page break
and the style for the text that should be the first line on page 2. I can't
seem to get this to stop. It's driving me nuts
Has anyone else had this problem?

This is a known issue with manual page breaks. Use "Page break before"
formatting instead; it's on the Line and Page Breaks tab of
Format>Paragraph (and it can be added to the paragraph style, as
appropriate).
