Hi
Has anyone tried to make a CD-ROM presentation that contains two
versions - one for users with PPT and one without PPT?
I have a CD-ROM presentation that I want to distribute on PPT that
includes all the activeX components (embedded windows media, flash
etc.). If everyone in the world had PPT installed I'd just do a PPS
with an autorun. Alas, some of my target group may not have PPT, for
which the Powerpoint2003viewer has to work.
My thing is this > is it possible to have two different versions of
the presentation (PPS and PPviewer) that can run off the same disc
drawing off the same files?
The first would have, say, windowsmovie1.wmv embedded in the
presentation with full controls. The second would just have the same
file as a normal insert without controls. Both presentations would
draw upon the same file as the source. Is this possible?
I suppose I would have to make some sort of page for the user to
choose which presentation they required to run. It would be fantastic
if the CD was able to detect whether powerpoint was on their system
and open the appropriate presentation, but alas I can't see that as a
possibility. The day that Powerpoint viewer finally allows activeX to
work within it, I think PPT will become an incredibly attractive
proposition for multimedia producers - mixing flash, shockwave, fully
controllable windows media etc, all easily within the one package and
available to non-PPT users - I'd take out stock in it!
