Package Wizard

Christo Yssel

Hi,

I am trying to create a distributable database using the package wizard from
the developer extentions. I need to install the .mdb on a computer which
does not have access installed. Everything seems to work fine, but once I
have run the setup program the .mdb does not work. When you open it there is
nothing in the access window.
Any ideas?

Thanks
Christo

Something should appear in he window. You do have to set what form starts
up. As a general rule, as a ms-access developer using the runtime YOU MUST
provide a user interface, as the ms-access one is not present in the
runtime.

Of course, if you reached the level, and skill of being ready to use the
runtime, then no doubt it was MANY MANY moons ago that you hid the ms-access
interface, and provided your own anyway. I usually provide a interface even
when not using the runtime. (however, since I do hide the ms-access
interface, then deploying as the runtime is no extra work).

You need to provide at least a start-up form with buttons on it to
launch/use the other forms.

There is some screen shots, and comments on the runtime, and differences
here:

The runtime version doesn't allow the DB window or the built-in toolbars to
show, so you have to provide custom toolbars and set a startup form.

As much as I hate to admit it on one of my early attempts I forgot to
specify a form to open and as I was trying to impress my father all I got
was a blank screen.
