I have a presentation with several mp3 songs. Using PowerPoint 2003 Package
for CD programme, I copied the file to cd. When I play it on another
computer, the slides work, but there is no sound. I did it with the linking
option set to 9999 (so the files would embed) and also with it set to 2 so
they would just be linked. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

MP3s are always linked, but Package for CD should resolve the links to your
sound files. Did you burn the MP3s to the CD along with the presentation and
other files the Package for CD created?

The first time, I just used the Package for CD utility, following all the
instructions.
After your reply, I added the songs (which are all in mp3 format) to the
disk before I copied to the CD. The end result is the same. When I play the
disk in my other computer, the slideshow works, but there is no music.

The easiest way to do it, is to put the songs into the same folder as your
presentation before you insert them into your presentation. Insert your songs,
an then copy all to the CD

Try running the package for CD again. This time, make sure you click the
Options button in the Package for CD and check Include Linked Files.

Select Copy to Folder instead of Copy to CD. Then burn all the *contents* of
that folder to your CD, don't burn the folder itself. In other words, your
files (PPT file, MP3 files, any other files if you elect to include the
Viewer, etc.) will all be "loose" on the CD. Oh, and when you burn the CD,
make sure you burn a data CD, not an audio CD or anything like that.
