Pack and Go trouble

I am using Powerpoint version 2000 trying to pack a presentation. The
opperation seems succesful. I unpack the presentation and all files work
correctly. However Hyperlinks do not work inside the presentation. After
researching a little the hyperlink seems to be pointing to
"..\..\..\..\..\Documents and Settings\Sharon Carter\Local
Settings\Temp\PNGTEMP\AREAAT~1.DOC" which is not where the file is located.
Please Help. Thank you.

Create a folder, move your ppt and MS word document into the folder.
Now, open the ppt file.
Remove the hyperlink that you have added.
Type in the text again. Right click on the text and click Hyperlink.
You should be able to see the document. Select it and click OK.

Now try pack and go to see if it works.

Looks like you path length might exceed the maximum number of characters
allowed in a path.You might try putting the Word document in the same folder
as your presentation. re link, then try the puke and go thingy again and see
what happens.

Check File, Document Properties. If there's anything in the "Hyperlink base"
text box, delete it.

But it may simply be that PPT has created the links using the full path rather
than a relative path.

It's generally best to put all of the files that go with the PPT into a single
folder with the PPT itself, and only THEN make the links.

Thanx, this is what I did. Its a lotta trouble had to relink every single file. Kind of a pain and if u ask me it kind of destroys the whole purpose of Pack N Go but hey its version 2000 so I guess i should expect that

I'm surprised that PnG didn't reset the links to something reasonable, so that
removing the hyperlink base would have just made it work.

Then again, this is good for business, I suppose. I have a commercial tool that
helps you fix links. For one or two presentaions, it wouldn't pay its way but
if you end up with a lot of these, have a look at http://fixlinks.pptools.com
