P4PE: IRQ assignments

K

Ken Krone

I use a P4PE board with Win2K. Presently my IRQ 16 is shared by my
video card, ATI Radeon 9000 Pro, and the USB2.0 controller. This
results in a problem with an external USB drive that I have such that it
will not work.

Is there some way to change the IRQ of the USB controller on the mother
board or to reassign the IRQ of the AGP slot? I have only found the
ability to reassign the PCI slot IRQ's.

Thanks,
Ken K

Hi,

Go to the computer management. Locate the ID of the USB competing with the Video and disable it (NOT uninstall)
Your Bios allows up to 8 USB's therefore you can use another one.

I had this problem even with an Asus GeForce.

This is the only way I found.

good luck !

Well, I tried that on your suggestion, but no luck. I have just read
the manual, which says that the IRQ assignment is shared by the AGP slot
and the first USB host controller, so I don't know if there is a way
around that. I also decided to check the unit on another system, my
wife's. It, too, has a shared IRQ 16 between the AGP slot and the first
USB host controller--but on her system, the USB drive works. So there
is something else going on here, presumably in the Win2K operating
system, so I am screwed, as I had already tried all of the other fixes
that Iomega has listed on their website. Oh, well.. Thanks for your
suggestion.
