Hi, is it possible to power on (not wake up) a P4P800 by a signal from the
local network to onboard ethernet card? If yes, what do we have to setup on
Bios to do this.

Thank's

The 3COM 3C940 is actually made by Marvell, and on page 2, it looks like
the chip probably supports it:

In the BIOS:
Power On By PCI Devices [Enabled]

In Windows, the Power Management tab for the network interface has
to have these enabled. I think this gives Windows ACPI control over
the power settings, causing the Ethernet chip's PME to be able
to bring the system out of "hibernate" (shutdown) state.

* Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby
* Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

If you flip the switch on the back of the computer to "OFF", then
none of this works :-)

Give that a try,
Paul

But your pc will turn it self on every ten minutes to check network status,
unless there's away around it :/
