P4P800 SE and front usb ports

The front usb ports aren't working and device manager shows that drivers
aren't uinstalled for usb controller. All 4 rear ports are working and
Windows XP Pro doesn't have drivers for this. Anyone know where I can get
drivers for this? I don't have any CDs for this mobo and can't find drivers
on Asuses site.

I wasn't aware that certain USB devices required specialist drivers.

If you've got service pack 1 installed, just right click the usb items that
display exclimation marks, and select update driver/install driver,
whatever. Then let it search for drivers itself, and it should find some
which came with the service pack. These are usb 2.0 drivers. Does this help?
Or am I stating something useless?

I don't think SP1 was on this machine. I moved the usb connector cables
from the first to the second connector on the mobo and rebootted and the
ports all work although the exclamation marks are still present and
properties say no drivers are installed. The client was satisfied and took
the machine home before I could persue the usb problem. Thanks for your
reply and I will keep your info in mind.

I have a P4P800se running XP Pro SP2 and all usb ports are working. No
special drivers were installed. Windows just sees them and installs
them. I think you have to have SP1 or later to enable usb 2.0 support,
but I could be wrong.

You may also want to check if the case has USB2 compliant connectors. My
antec came with USB1.0 connectors. I emailed and they sent me new
connectors free of charge.

Thanks, Bubba,
I assume you mean the 2 rows of 5 connectors to Intel spec? This is a
generic case with 2 rows of 4 connectors for USB1.1 spec. Oh well. His
motherboard usb ports will still be 2.0 if I put in SP2 or the drivers from
Microsoft.
