P4C800E Deluxe - Does SATA RAID Have to be Boot Drive?

My data is more critical than my OS. I would like to install the OS on the
SATA channel 1 and run RAID 1 on the SATA RAID channels for data redundancy.
I would much rather reinstall my OS than lose my data.

Is this possible? Does it matter what is on RAID as long as it is defined?
