P4C800 Deluxe and SATA to IDE Dongle

Hi there,

I should know this but need to check, can I run a Pioneer A06 off a SATA to
IDE dongle, but is there a restriction on the speed the Pioneer will burn?

Could I also run a Hard Drive caddy off a SATA to IDE dongle?

Many thanks for any pointers, Tim.

Not sure if these adapters work on optical units. The commandset is
different for HDDs and optical so it could be that they only work on
HDDs. Check the manufactures website.

One other thing regarding optical units and S-ATA:
I have a MSI XA52P -- Serial ATA CD-recorder/DVD-reader. This only
work on Intel chipset with S-ATA and Promise S-ATA-controllers. VIA
and Nvidia havn't support for the optical commandset yet. For SiS I'm
not sure. I guess a lot of people will experience this when the
Plextor PX-712S now starts to come on the market...

Hi there,

Sorry not to have said thank you sooner been away.

Going to play around with them and see what they do but will for now just
stick IDE hard drives on them.

Again, many thanks, Tim.
