I have been running without RAID for about a year, and after suffering a disk
crash I wanted to use RAID 1. After reinstalling Win 2000 I get a message
about FastTrak scanning IDE drives each time I boot, and after installing a
new drive intender as mirror of drive C: I tried to enter the setup using CTRL-F
I then get a message saying NO DISK FOUND.

I'm able to see the disk in "Disk Management". What do I have to do to see
it in the FastTrak RAID setup?

If I remember right,
With 1 drive on the promise controller, it will act like a regular HHD. You
would need to use software to mirror the c: drive.
If you want to setup a RAID 1 array you need 2 drives of the same make, size
and firmware for best results. Set both as master on the different ports and
there own 80 pin cables. Then FastTrak will see both and you can build a 0 or
1 array. Install drivers in Windoz and off you go.

You have to install the raid driver at the beginnig of the OS installation
when asked to hit F6 if you have raid or SCSI drivers to install. ,unless you
are using 98 or ME then you do it after the OS is installed. DOUG

Hi Guys:

According to the manual, you can place two HD on the Promise controller and
have them act as normal drives by setting HD jumpers to make them BOTH Slave
drives.

Regards,

David.
