Overtype on Word forms

How can I turn on overtype in a Word form? No matter what I do in the form,
the document inserts text. For example, if I have an underscore for a name
entry, the underscore moves to the right when entering a name. I just want to
overtype the underscore to prevent damage to the form's formatting.

Have you tried pressing the Insert key or double-clicking OVR on the status
bar?
