Hi,
Basically, I was wondering if there were some settings
that would allow you to override errors when copy&pasting
in Windows XP. I have a very large series of folders full
of images and MS office documents. I'm trying to copy
these over a network, and they will copy until they get
to certain files..
There are numerous files dotted about these folders that
have either some insane protection level on them (they're
government files) or they have become corrupted as they
are quite old (hence the backup). When they try and copy,
an error message comes up saying they are 'in use or
write protected', then, and this is the real gyp, the
copying stops and I have to find the file.
Now, There are no problems with the network, no
firewalls, no troubles with the PC's, the files are not
read only, and the files that are troublesome I cannot
open, or even delete.
Is there a setting somewhere that would give me the
option to copy the files continuously and skip any files
it cannot copy, but then carry on regardless? It would
save me a lot of time, as my only other option is to
manually find every troublesome file, then resume copying
from after it. With 5Gb and about a thousand folders,
this is no viable.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance.
