Hi,

I need to provide more than 255 characters per cell for a
worksheet I am setting up for my office. When someone
uses more characters everything changes to # signs. Is
there a way to override the 255 limit?

sorry I'm not helpful ---- but I am pretty sure you can't it is hard
wired

figured you could use the bump

How does the data get entered to the cell(s)?

Imported or typed in? Some imports truncate at 255 chars.

Excel Help specs say that 32,767 characters can be entered in a cell but only
1024 will be displayed.

You can place more by adding a few ALT + ENTER line breaks and using smaller
font.

Try formatting the cell(s) as General and Formatting to "Wrap Text" under
Format>Cells>Alignment.

It sounds like you're getting more than 255 characters already--but they show up
as #######'s.

Try changing the cell's format from Text to General.
