I have XP operating system nad have been trying to update with the XP Service
Pack 3, but midway through the download and installation I get a question
asking for a disk (I don't have one since the computer came software loaded
by HP Pavillion 7955). I am asked for an installation program called
OUTRET.msi and I cannot find it in my windows files. Can anyone point me to
where I might find this in my filles? Or how I can access it online. I
cannot download the service pack because the process becomes aborted once i
try to go on with out this file.

HP still should have given you a CD containing the file.

It's on one of your installation CDs.

You can't.
