Hi,
a user in our company is having problems opening the
outlook templates .oft . at some stage he must have tried
to open it with excell, because now it seems to have the
green excell symbol in the icon, and it wont open. when
we try to use the 'open with' option, outlook is not
included in the main group, and when we browse to it. it
wont open it either.
any suggestions on how to get around this? he has outlook
installed and running on his pc. is there anyway to
change the file assocation?

Regards
Damien

You can change the file association in Windows Explorer -- Tools | FOlder
Options | File Types. In the Advanced properties for the Open verb for .oft
files, the "application used to perform action" should be

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE" /t "%1"

adjusted, of course, for your actual path to Outlook.exe.

Check the Use DDE box, under Application put OUTLOOK, and for Topic, put
System.
