Outlook2k hangs up when shutting down

OS Win2K and Office 2K, Outlook will not complete shutdown. It will hangup at
the message box "Please wait while Microsoft Outlook exits" I have to go into
Task Manager to shut it down. Word is not being used as the outlook editor.
Appreciate any ideas.
