I have an annoying problem with Outlook 2003. When ever I open it it says
I have a new message. On the left I see the Inbox in bold with a 1 next to
it but all my messages are read! What is wrong here?

You stated Outlook, yet your properties read Outlook Express.

For the latter:

For Passport/Unread Mail Issues:

Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2. Advanced/Manage
Passwords/Remove.

Tip:

Add Control Userpasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

Use TweakUI/Logon/Unread Mail and Repair/Unread Mail Count

or:

Disable Unread Mail on the Welcome Screen (Line 100)

To remove an account or to change the count manually Go to:
Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your
E-Mail Address]. In the right pane modify: Message Count, Change it to 0.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail. In
the right pane modify: MessageExpiryDays Change it to 0.

If you do not get further help from here, post this to
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.outlook.general.

Check your View setting. To see all messages in the current folder, click on
View > Current View > Messages.

So why did you query what the OP was posting NEWS with then?

Probably because if the poster used OE to post here, then they more
than likely use OE to send/receive mail as well. People confuse the
two programs all the time, but getting help depends totally on
CORRECTLY identifying which is the correct program in question.

Plus which, Kelly never queried which program the OP was using. He
merely posted what program the poster used to post to USENET.

I use Outlook 2003 as my email client and my newsreader says Microsoft
Outlook Newsreader at the top. Guess what my headers say I am using?
When you properly configure Outlook 2003 to use the Outlook Express
newsreader, it removes the OE inbox from the Outlook bar and renames the
newsreader to Outlook Newsreader dropping the Express. So technically the OP
probably was correctly stating what they were using.
