Outlook will not stay open over 5 seconds. Shows 3 messages not sent in
Outbox, but cannot be cleared.

Outlook version number, type of email account, any error messages?

Any emails that are sending from the Outbox are likely trapped read
receipts, read here for instructions:

Try opening Outlook in safe mode:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /safe

Knowing what version of Outlook you're running would be quite helpful.
