outlook won't save my password

I can't seem to find my way through the on-line advice about how to solve
this problem. On send/receive a box keeps appearing to 'enter network
password' which i enter, but it isn't saved. any advice anyone??

My hsband and I both have this problem. We have been working with online
support for 3 weeks now.

Yes. New profile, Hotfix article 821574,, Renamed cache files, (safemode in
Outlook, it didn't pop up), and now we're eliminating startup items in
msconfig.
