Outlook will not download in Cached Mode

I have a windows XP SP2 box running Office 2k3 Up to date. the issue is
when it is set in cached mode, outlook says it is online, but will not
download new messages. When I switch it to unCached, it sees everything
on the Exchange 2000 system. Also, when I first start the program it
says that the folder was updated two minutes prior to me starting the
program. When I push the send and receive button, it goes through the
steps to download the data but nothing happens. I checked the inbox
file size inside of outlook, and it recognizes that there is more data
on the server then in the cache.

I tried deleteing and moving the cache files, but that removed all the
previously cached messages and now it won't download anything. I tried
to remake the outlook profile, but the problem is the same. I am
currently running it out of cached mode and it runs fine, but I want
access to the Junk email feature. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thank You
Eric F.

Eric,

I, too, have been trying to find a solution to this. I've
deleted\recreated profiles. I've deleted\recreated OST files. No go.

Eventually I came across this and it worked for me.

1. Shut down Outlook
2. Delete OST files
3. Delete mail profile.
4. Download all Office patches.

Then I went to this page
http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Troubleshooting_and_repairing_mailboxes_and_databases.html

I ran the Inbox repair tool first, then the OST integrity checker.

It had found a few hundred minor inconsistencies, and things were moved
around in my inbox once I went back into Outlook. But, alas,
everything was up to date in cached mode. I tested inbound and
outbound emails, and everyhing showed up just fine. All I need to do
was to move the spam back into the spam folder.

Hope this helps.

Thank You, unfortunately, the system had a literal meltdown and I had
to reinstall the entire operating system and applications... :( oh
well... I will remember this for the next nightmare... ;)
