Outlook vs Outlook Express

ev1.net has been converted to PeoplePC.com for people in my area. PeoplePC
only works on Outlook Express, and I have used just plain Outlook for years.
If I catch the little popup that says I have unread mail fast enough, it
opens in Express. My problem is that even though I have files on my computer
that relate to Express, I can't seem to connect to them. How do I reconnect
with Express? I can't even find the icons. Guru is not even in my
vocabulary, so I can't evern experiment.
Other problems I can live with, but it is a hassle to check both my computer
and the web in order to get all of my mail.

The account settings for OL are the same as OE
You need to set your default email app in Internet Options

Unfotunately as you suspect, it isn't as simple as that. Outlook and OE
_may_ share the same settings and mailbox, but that is not necessarily the
case.

It depends which of the many versions of Outlook you have, and whether it
was setup in Internet or Corporate mode.

Best advice is try and see, and if it does use the same mailbox you're OK.

Okay, Ian, I changed my Internet Options to Outlook Express. I am currently
using Outlook 2003 SP2, which was a free version through the company I worked
for at the time.

How will this make my Outlook version change on the computer?

You can probably import the mail and address book from Outlook to OE now
that you're set up with OE.

Rubbish. it doesn't matter what mode Outlook 2000 is is, the mail server
settings MUST be the same, mustn't they, otherwise how would Outlook
send and receive email on that account if the settings were different?

The difference, is WHERE the settings are.

If I need to look for the settings, where would I look? As I said before, I
have no icon to launch OE.

OE keeps mail settings in the registry AFAIK.
On your desktop create a new shortcut and point it to "C:\Program
Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe", including the ".

That will (or should) launch OE....
