outlook version collision

I have an xp machine but installed office 97 and seem to have overwritten my outlook 6 (came with system) with outlook 97. I can't seem to get the old outlook uninstalled and get windows to recognize the outlook 6 I downloaded.

Outlook 6 being Outlook Express? Outlook and Outlook Express are two
entirely different e-mail programs which unfortunately share a similar
name. I'm not sure exactly what you're asking but in you IE options
have you tried selecting Outlook Express as your e-mail application?
