outlook unopened items icon--how to disable

I have Outlook 2000. I find the unopened items icon on the toolbar at the
bottom to be annoying. How do I turn it off?

Are you trying to turn it off? If you do that, it will not show you when you
have new emails. I guess you want to see what is unopened. Once you open the
unopened items, the icon will disappear. This is something that I am looking
for too. See my post by find unopened or by my name.
