Outlook Today Public Folders don't highlight when there is mail?

I have some folders added to my Outlook today view. These are public folders
with email addresses attached to them (I hope I'm explaining this right).
When I had Outlook 2003 the folders would be highlighted when there was mail
in them. Since I have installed 2007, only the Inbox folder is highlighted,
the others aren't working. Is this something that can be affected by the
folder settings, or some bug in 07?
 
Yes they are located in my Public Folder favorites and they are highlighted
on that list. What I was hoping to accomplish, however, was that when I add
the folders to my Outlook Today view, they are highlighted there as well.
They used to be in Outlook 2003.
