Outlook Tasks Status column -- change popup list choices

In Outlook 2003 Tasks, Status field, want to change (or add to) the five
choices in the popup list. Alternate method -- create user-defined field
with user-defined popup list to replace Status field.
Note: can barely pronounce "Visual Basic" -- need to do this within
Outlook's native functionality.

Outlook doesn't support custom drop-down lists in folder views, nor does it allow you to change the enumerations for built-in fields like Status.
