Outlook should display mailbox limits along with folder size.

Wouldn't it be great if Outlook could query Active Directory (or Exchange)
for the current mailbox limits (warning, send, send&receive), and then
display the limits to a user as he views the "Server Data" tab of his mailbox
folder size window?

Some small improvements can make a big difference. This is definately one
of them.

Alas, the rest of us using Outlook with a POP3 or IMAP account could not
make use of such a feature since querying for quotas is not support by
those protocols. For Exchange, a call to the mail admin or IT dept
usually gets me that info, or they could simply include comments
regarding those quotas in the company policies that you are supposed to
read.

I hear you, and I agree that it won't be helpful for everybody.

The feature I speak is a nice thing to have for organizations that allow
users/departments to purchase additional storage space for their mailboxes.
Sometimes a little compromise goes a long way to getting limits in place, but
allowing exceptions for those who need it enough to pay.

Sometimes, users just don't know what their limits are, when working in such
an environment. It also just makes sense. Think about it, if an Exchange
user can see their server-data mailbox size, why not allow them to see the
quota limits on their mailboxes too? It would potentially reduce the number
of calls to the call-center/helpdesk, which is the goal of most IT managers.
