Outlook should allow automatic reminders for all day events.

I find it frustrating that when an all-day event is automatically added to my
Outlook calendar, it does not automatically add my default reminder. I can
do it manually, but with literally hundreds of events that are added
automatically to my calendar (some as far as one year away), it is impossible
to do this efficiently (except to have an assistant check my calendar each
week and manually add reminders). I think it is very important to the
funcionality of the program (and to user productivity) to allow automatic
reminders for both, and I hope the Outlook developers develop a patch for
this without needing to wait for the next version of Outlook to come out. I
currently use Windows XP, and Outlook 2003.

Do you have automatic reminders turned on under Calendar options?

Hi Milly.

Yes, I do. The program I use is called Compulaw (http://www.compulaw.com/).
When it generates a "timed" event, such as an appointment at 2:00 p.m., and
then syncs it with my Outlook calendar, Outlook automatically adds the
reminder per the auto reminders feature (I have it set for 18 hours).
However, when Compulaw adds an UNtimed event (i.e. an "all day" event), the
reminder is not added. I called Compulaw, and they said this is an Outlook
issue, not a Compulaw issue.

Thanks.

I'm not so sure it's outlook's fault - reminders are default for all day
events if they are on for timed events, so it should work.

Excellent point. I will pass this along to the Compulaw people and see what
they say. Of course, even more frustrating than the problem itself is
getting into a "it's a problem on their end" "no...it's a problem on THEIR
end" battle, but it is what it is.

Thanks.

Brady
