Can anyone please tell me how to setup outlook on my computer and my husbands
computer. Everything is working except for when we flag emails or delete
emails they will not automaticaly do it on the other computer.

Why would you expect what you do on one computer to be automatically done on the other?

To do this you would have to have the email set up as IMAP type rather
than POP3 type.

The POP3 type will download the mail to the computer retrieving the
mail and work on the downloaded mail on that computer only. The IMAP
setup will work on the mail that's stored on the server. Outlook will
be acting like an interface. This way you can look at your mail on
different computers and see the same thing.

Using the IMAP type, when you delete mail, it marks the mail as
deleted. You have to use the Purge option under edit to actually
delete the mail.

Hopefully Microsoft will one day remove this extra step by making a
key that will do the whole process in one step. When you click on
delete, it should move the messages to a trash container and purge the
message you just moved/deleted. Then when you want to empty the
trash, a click on the empty trash should mark the messages in the
trash container and purge them with one click.

This way the computer programmer would program the function one time.
It would save the user a lot of work and grief.

Sorry about the little rant, but I hope this answers your question.

Hi Milly,

Thank you for your respose. But when we had our outlook set up before thats
exactly what it did. Then we deleted those accounts got new email addresses
and set up outlook again under those emails and it is not doing it now.

Thank you

Hi L. James,

Thank you for your response but if I remember correctly our old email
account was a POP3 and it did it for some reason. This is also a POP3 Im not
sure if it was a setting o the server or what but now it is not doing it.

Thanks for your help.

In the Advanced Properties of your Mail Account, did you have teh option checked to delete from deleted items when deleted from the server?
