outlook send/receive

I have been using outlook 2003 for years and now all of a sudden when I try
to read new mail I get a constant send receive with notations like 59 out of
2376 mressages received. Iff I cancel send/receive it comes back again as
soon as I click on a message. I did recently upgade from windows XP to Vista
could this be causing the problem?

Log into your ISP mailbox with a web browser and empty out some of those old
messages you have left on your server, or at least move them to another
folder.
