Outlook repeatedly attempts to send messages that are non-existant

I have Outlook scheduled to send/receive every 1 minute. This used to work
just fine. Lately, it is not working fine. Every minute when Outlook connects
to send/receive, it begins by trying to send e-mail messages that are not
there. In the bottom right side of the program, where the send/receive status
usually is, it says, "Sending message 1 of 4". It never ends up sending
anything, and ends with a send/receive error. The really confusing part of
this issue, is that there are no messages in my Outbox to send. I don't know
where or why the program thinks there are messages to send. Anyone else
experience this or know how to fix this?

Thanks.

1. Increase your server timeout - there is no need to check for mail at anything less than a 10 minute interval, unless you can read all of your incoming mail in less than a minute before your next batch arrives. Plus, it will cause duplicates and multiple downloads of messages.

2. Post your Outlook version whenever asking about what is happening. I am guessing this is Outlook 2007, right? OUtlook 2007 should report "checking accounts 1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc." rather than say sending message 1 of 4, etc. as that is actually what is happening. The fact that you see this constantly is attributable to your unreasonably short send/receive interval. It can never complete before the next send/receive starts.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.
