outlook refuses to start

Hello All
Over the weekend Outlook had a fit. today it refuses to start. On startup,
the shell initiates and then I get the message
"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window.
The set of folders could not be opened."
click OK and outlook shuts down
have tried un-install and reinstall, but same result
I guess there is a flag deep in the bowels of the registry or hidden in an
..ini fle somewhere that needs to be reset......but where

any help appreciated

Fixed - well sort of
as suggested in an earlier discussion, I deleted my account and created a
new one
now to recover my mail.....
