Outlook refuses to connect to Hotmail

Outlook 2003 - has been happily working with Hotmail for years till today and
is now asking for username and password. Not accepting password and refuses
to connect . I have Hotmail Plus. Any hidden trick - firewall problem etc

Hi,

One possibility that I can think of is MSNs HTTP DAV support was turned off for new users by MSN around 6 months ago. However, if you've been using Outlook to retreive you Hotmail
with no problems, this should not affect you.

Thanks for your reply. I'm very familar with the KB article.After a
frustrating couple of hours deleting then re-setting up Hotmail again it
mysteriously returned to normal. I don’t have MSN. I use Verizon DSL just as
an ISP and use Hotmail exclusively in Outlook. The only other possible cause
is an add-in I use called NEO. But even disabling it early on didn’t help.

Just one of life’s mysteries.

Scott, please READ the messages to which you reply. The OP said he is using
a Hotmail Plus account - a PAID account. MSN stopped access only to the
FREE accounts. In fact, the MSN page describing Hotmail Plus explicitly
says that Outlook and Outlook Express access is supported. See

My personal opinion is that your problem is symptomatic of the issues MSN
has been having lately with its Hotmail servers. I don't think the fooling
around you did prior to having Hotmail work again had any real effect on
solving the problem.
