I've read a lot on this and tried a lot of things but I have not found a way
to take my old pst file from outlook xp running on xp and transfer it to
outlook xp on vista. It won't allow me to change the read-only attribute on
the file so when I try to transfer it it tells me I don't have access. I've
tried the vista file transfer utility but it does not work.

The process is posted daily, often several times
OL has to be closed
Copy pst's to media
From media to eg Documents folder in Vista
If using a cd, in explorer (files on the hd), check properties of the pst &
turn off the read only flag
Start OL, File>Open>Data File.........browse to the location

Outlook 2002 isn't compatible with Vista.

Well, to pick nits, Outlook 2002 will work in Vista, it just will not retain
the password from one session to the next. The trick is to never close
Outlook while you have your computer on.

This from an earlier post

You can use http://www.mgsware.de/index.php/OLAutoPW/138/0/ and you will not
have any problems with account passwords
