outlook.pst could not be accessed

I am in desperate need of help! I am working in Microsoft Outlook 2000 with
windows Media XP. My mailbox is pretty full, but I believe that I should be
able to handle it with the specs on my computer. I can't send or receive
emails. It won't let me archive or delete any emails. When I try, I get an
error message that the file outlook.pst could not be accessed. I need to
find out where the disconnect is so that I can fix it. I work from home, so
this is really hurting my work day. Help!

You may have a damaged PST file. See this link for help with this condition:

The specs of your computer are nearly irrelevant. If your PST is around 1.5
GB or higher, you will have trouble. Snarky's advice to use the Inbox
Repair Tool is good. You should also check this:
