Using Outlook version 2002 sp3. When connected to my office lan outlook works
fine. When connecting over a dsl vpn connection I get the message "Outlook is
requesting data from exchange server" whenever I do anything in Outlook. Any
suggestions how I can avoid this or at least diable that message?

Does it eventually work (i.e. just slow) or does it timeout and fail?
Sounds like you need to do some performance enhancing on your VPN. Can you
ping your Exchange server, by name, when connected via VPN.

A VPN connection is a WAN connection and there may be substantial delays as
compared to a LAN.

I have the same problem, and users told me that eventually it works, I tested
and yes I can ping the Exchange server over a VPN connection. The thing is it
was working fine until I changed the network cards, I put the same TCP-IP
configuration and after that I could connect, ping, administer, but can not
use Outlook over the VPN.
