Outlook outbox

I sent an email yesterday at 1:30 or so and it is still setting in my outbox.
When I click on it to try and resend it is says that "can't open this item.
Outlook has started to transmitt this file" How can I get rid of this or
cancel this?

That didn't work is says "Can't open this item outlook has already begun
trasmitting this message"
