Outlook not responding on startup

Everyday when starting outlook it hangs and when checking task mgr it shows
not responding. I have to end task. I then start it again and it prompts to
start in safe mode and I select Yes but it never loads. I end the
outlook.exe process and then launch again and it prompts to run detect and
repair. It then takes about 5-10 min to go throught the routine and then I
can open outlook without any problems. I have run scanpst several times and
it has identified errors which it corrected but this still happens everyday.
I have uninstall and re-installed and tried everything else I can think of
and its driving me crazy not to mention its a huge waste of time.

Does anyone know how to resolve this once and for all?

Thanks, Richard

I'm having the exact same problem. It occurred after our Exchange server was
hacked. I read one solution was to recreate the mail profile, but that
didn't work for me. I'd like some direction on this problem too.

First try locating and renaming or deleting the outcmd.dat file. It's in
%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook, which is a hidden folder. You didn't state
your Outlook version, but if it's 2002/2003, you could also try disabling IM
integration at the bottom of Tools>Options>Other.

Thanks Brian, I did that a couple of days ago and so far it seems to have
corrected the issue. I have been able to startup my laptop the last 3 days
and launch Outlook 2003 w/out any problems. Thanks again!!

Sorry, i renamed outcmd.dat to outcmd.old then start outlook2002, asking to
run detetc and repair. But still can not oprn outlook2002 in safe mode. It's
not responding. I even can not open Outlook normally or in safe mode, how to
disabling IM integration at the bottom of Tools>Options>Other? Please help.
Thanks
