At my company, we use a program called Datasafe to back up our files each
day. When the backup is complete, the program sends an automated e-mail to a
specified e-mail address reporting on the backup process. Very often, the
e-mail says that there was an error in the backup process, and that error is
that it tried to backup the outlook.pst file, but that file was open. We
have made certain that the computer from which the outlook.pst file is being
backed up from has closed Outlook every day. Is there something Outlook does
that even when you click the X to close it, it still stays open (much like
AOL Instant Messenger does)? If Outlook does have something like that, how
do we turn it off, or how can we be absolutely certain that the Outlook
program is closed at the end of the day?
