Does any of your Outlook 2007 say it had not closed properly and has to run a
check on the data file even though you are sure it had been closed properly?
I receive this error message even after I have re-installed my whole system
from scratch.

Regards,

Roderick

Use the Task Manager (Processes tab) to check if Outlook is indeed
closed after you do so. Sometimes add-ons prevent Outlook from
completely closing.

If you find it still running, close the outlook process in the Task
Manager, then start Outlook in Safe Mode (Start -> Run -> 'outlook
/safe') to see if the same thing happens without add-ons.

Many thanks. Now that you have mentioned about add-ons. The problem seemed to
have occured only after I had installed Jeyo's SMS program. Will keep an eye
on this next time.

Thanks again.

It looks like Jeyo doesn't work correctly with OL2007. It was another issue
discussed in Russian group (Jeyo doesn't allow compose new message in local
language). Try switch Jeyo add-in on/off from Trust Center to be sure your
problem is with it

I am having the same problem, but I have found an unsatisfactory work-around. After a couple of times trying to start Outlook, and seeing nothing happen, I checked the Task Manager. There I found that there were several instances of Outlook.exe running (not in applications, but only in process tab). I then stopped all the processes and started Outlook again, and it started normally.

Unless I am starting Outlook after a reboot, I now simply start Outlook and then go to the Task Manager and see two processes, and then stop one. Here I learned something else... if you stop the right one Outlook pops right up and runs normally. If you choose the wrong one you get the message that Outlook should start in Safe Mode. What I have discovered is that you need to stop the instance which is using the larger amount of memory to get the "fresh" instance to start.

OK - I can work around the problem, but does anyone have a clue as to WHY this is happening??? I run Office 2007 Enterprise on Vista Ultimate... no addins.
