Outlook mspst.dll error?? Can't Load??

I've never used outlook before, and when trying to install it today (other
office programs were already installed), it is giving me this error:

"Unable to open your default e-mail folders. An unexpected error has occurred.
MAPI was unable to load the information service mspst.dll. Be sure the
service is correctly installed and configured."

When I click OK, it asks me if I want to open my Default File System Folder
instead, and only opens Outlook if I click yes, where it gives me another
message telling me that it can't start the processing services.
Then, I can't seem to do anything in outlook - I get more error messages
looking for the mspst.dll file.
Oddly enough, there is also no "quit" option in the file menu?

I'm using:
A Toshiba Satellite, Windows XP, & Office XP Professional

I've never used Outlook before, so I'm especially lost here. Thanks for any
help you can give me.
