Outlook messages stuck in Outbox

Many times messages get stuck in my outbox. Eventually I can send them. I
get error messages saying that communication with server timed out.

I never have this problem with Outlook Express.
 
double-check your outgoing smtp server in account settings..... and if it's
ok, double check that your email service is setup to allow pop3 access....
and of course, make sure your internet connection is a-okay.

Try asking in a group with the word OUTLOOK in the title. Notice this
group lacks this word.

Then extend the timeout time in outlook.
