I have about 56K worth of messages stuck in my outlook. I am guessing that
the emails are the reason why everytime I open Outlook it locks up. It has
not downloaded my messages in a day and half now. Is there anyway to delete
what is currently in my inbox and NOT be in Outlook. I do not want to
uninstall it because I have about 1500 contacts that could be lost. PLEASE
HELP!!

Stuck where, outbox?
Uninstalling doesnt effect data, but you of course have backups for when the
disater strikes, but then niether is likely to cure a problem.
What version of Outlook?
Search to include hidden for *.pst what are the file names & sizes reported?

Use the webmail interface to move items out of the Inbox folder into
some holding folder. Leave however many messages you want to download
at a time in the Inbox folder, then do a mail poll in Outlook to
retrieve those. Those that were in the webmail Inbox folder should
disappear (unless you configured Outlook to "leave messages on server").
Empty out the webmail Inbox folder and repeat moving some items from the
holding folder back into the Inbox folder, and do another mail poll in
Outlook. Repeat until you have downloaded all the e-mails that you
wanted to keep. This assumes you use POP to access your e-mail account,
not IMAP. You never mentioned what TYPE of e-mail account to which you
are connecting or even WHICH version of Outlook that you use.
