Outlook Live

I'm considering using the Oultlook Live service to be able to access my
calendar and email form multiple computers/locations, instead of having
multiple calendars/emails on multiple computers.
Does anyopne have any suggestions on how I can accomplish this merging of
resources without using the Outlook Live service?
