Outlook keeps locking up

I am using Outlook XP and it keeps locking up. It will
open the "Today" screen but as soon as I go into my inbox
and click on an email with an attachment it locks up. I
have all of the latest updates downloaded and the only way
I can get Outlook to run again is to use "Detect &
Repair". I have to do this almost twice daily to check my
mail! Sometimes it will work fine for a couple times and
it will open the attachments with no problems. But when
it doesn't, it won't even display the preview message. It
locks up the program totally! I have completely
uninstalled office and re-installed it but it doesn't
help. I have also reinstalled from the disc and it
doesn't help. Does anyone have any ideas what is
happening?? Thanks! :-)

If you have an offline folder enabled, close the Outlook
then remove the *.ost file. As you start Outlook again,
*.ost file should be automatically created.

Where do I find the *.ost file?

Thanks

Brian.Tillman is the name, smiths-aerospace.com is the domain.

I don't speak for Smiths, and Smiths doesn't speak for me.

I've tried these reccomendations but I am still not having
any luck! Any ideas?

Thanks

Finally called MS Support and the solution is to create a
new Outlook account in Start>Control_Panel>Mail

and then when Outlook is started and loads this new
account, use File >Import/Export to import the outlook
database file that is locking up.

Everything is fine now and support says a virus can cause
this by corrupting the dB.
