Outlook is slowing down...

I am using Outlook 2000 on a (1.2 ghz) Windows XP machine with 256 megs of
RAM.
The program has gotten slow lately. Sometimes I will click one of Outlook's
pull-down
menus and it will take 10 seconds before it appears. It is the same with
clicking the
Send button in the toolbars.

I thought is was an antispam program that I loaded but I have since
completely uninstalled
that program and it hasn't improved the problem.

Any ideas?

Are you deleting unneeded messages? Thousands may weigh
your system down.
